Removing   Note t  Observe notes → Chapter. t  The refrigerant must be extracted beforehand, e.g. with air conditioning service station -VAS 6007A- (or later model). t  The previously used service stations can still be used ⇒ Seat Workshop Equipment catalogue. t  All of the refrigerant circuit's components that have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs to prevent the ingress of moisture.   WARNING Danger of freezing injuries. If refrigerant circuit has not been evacuated, refrigerant and refrigerant oil will escape. Extract refrigerant before opening refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after it has been evacuated, pressure may develop in refrigerant circuit due to re-evaporation. Extract refrigerant again. –  Extract refrigerant, e.g. with air conditioning service station -VAS 6007A- (or later model) before opening refrigerant circuit. –  Remove front bumper. → Rep. Gr.63. It is not possible to access the 4 retaining bolts of the condenser in some vehicles.

–  In these vehicles, drill a 15 mm Ø hole for each bolt. Dimension “a” 15 mm and dimension “b” 17 mm –  Pull off cap -1- upwards.

–  Before opening dryer, remove grease (optional) or corrosion from its inner surface.   WARNING Danger of freezing injuries or of sealing cover flying off. If the refrigerant circuit has not been evacuated, it is pressurised. Refrigerant and refrigerant oil will escape while opening. Extract refrigerant before opening refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after it has been evacuated, pressure may develop in refrigerant circuit due to re-evaporation. Extract refrigerant again. –  Remove retaining ring -3-. –  Screw a socket head bolt (M5) -2- into thread of sealing cover.

–  Unscrew bolt -2- from condenser and use a screwdriver to push guide pin -1- of the condenser in the direction of the arrow.

–  Using a pair of pliers on socket head screw -2-, pull out sealing cover -1- straight in the direction of the arrow.

–  Using long-nose pliers, pull out dryer cartridge -1- in direction of arrow. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:   Caution There is a risk the dryer may be leaking. The o-rings can be damaged when the sealing cover is inserted. Carefully insert the sealing cap into the dryer.

–    Note To prevent corrosion, it is necessary to coat the area -2- with grease -G 052 150 A2- before installing the cover cap -1-.

Tasks of reservoir with dryer cartridge The receiver collects the liquid droplets and directs them in a continuous stream to the expansion valve. Moisture which has entered the refrigerant circuit during assembly is collected by the dryer cartridge in the receiver.
