| The Poly-V belt for the operation of the compressor is in good condition, tense and pulley action to the compressor must be OK. |

| All air ducts, covers and seals OK and properly fitted |

| The air flow through the dust and pollen filter is not obstructed by dirt. |
t
| The air intake (in fresh air and air recirculation position) should be clear of any obstruction or components. |
t
| The vehicle should not be in direct sunlight. |
t
| The engine must be warm. |

| The fault memory of the Climatronic control unit -J255-/Air conditioning control unit -J301- has been consulted and cleared, the basic adjustment has been completed and the coding of the Climatronic control unit -J255-/Air conditioning control unit -J301- → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 has been checked. |

| Adjust operating mode „Auto“ on the control and indication panel, Climatronic control unit -J255-. |

| Choose temperature preselection „LO“ (for driver and passenger side) on the control and indication panel,Climatronic control unit -J255-. |
Functions with the engine is running: |

| The fresh air blower -V2-functions at full speed. |
t
| The air conditioner switches to re-circulated-air mode (approx. 1 minute after starting vehicle), the fresh-air intake flaps are closed and re-circulated-air flap opened, (the air is drawn in by fresh air blower -V2- in the interior under the dash panel or the glove compartment). |
t
| The radiator fans -V7- operate (activation and speed depend on the air conditioning circuit pressure and engine temperature). |
