Activation of the Rear heated window Z1
Activation of the Rear heated window -Z1-

t  Pressing the button -E-, when the ignition is on, activates the Onboard network control -J519- (using an earth signal) (the signal is applied during the use of the button). While the Onboard network control -J519- is activating the heated rear window (only while the engine is running) the indication LED in the button -E- is lit (the Onboard network control unit -J519- emits a positive signal). Pressing the button once more -E- and turning the ignition off will deactivate the rear window heating → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations → Vehicle instruction manual
t  If, on the Onboard network control unit -J519-, the voltage measured on terminal „30“ falls below a value stored in the Onboard network control unit -J519-, the activation of the heated rear window will be cancelled completely Heated rear window -Z1- (or the power will be regulated) thus discharging the alternator → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.

t  The heated rear window -Z1- will only be operated by the Onboard supply control unit -J519- when the engine is running. Operation is not carried out when the engine is not running and this is also no confirmation by the Onboard supply control unit -J519-, the LED display of the button -E- does not light-up or goes out shortly after pressing the button → Vehicle instructions manual → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
t  If the Heated rear window -Z1- must be deactivated by low voltage from the Onboard network control unit -J519- for a short interval, the indicator LED on the button for the rear heated window -E- remains lit; if it is deactivated for a long period of time, the Onboard network control unit -J519- deactivates the indicator LED.
t  Testing of the rear window heating activation is described in detail in the fault finding guide for the Onboard network control unit -J519- and climate control → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
  Note
t  With outside temperatures above 0℃, the heated rear window -Z1- is turned off by the Onboard supply control unit -J519- after a deactivation time (approx. 10 Minutes) that has been saved in the Onboard supply control unit -J519- elapses.
t  For vehicles produced since the beginning of the production, the heated rear window -Z1- will be turned off by the Onboard supply control unit (00457) -J519- after approx. 20 minutes with outside temperatures less than 0°C. In later models the Onboard network control unit -J519- will be fitted (introduction not specified) and the Heated rear windscreen -Z1- heating remains active until the ignition is switched off (it may still be activated and deactivated at any moment manually). When the outside temperature climbs above 0°C when driving, the deactivation of the heated rear window is carried out by the Onboard network control unit -J519- after the registered operating time (approx. 10 minutes) has elapsed.
