Removing and installing condenser
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-
t  Hose clamps up to 40 mm -3093-
t  Air conditioner service station -VAS 6007A- (or later model).
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Compressed air gun, commercially available

  Note
t  Condenser can only be removed together with charge air cooler.
t  The refrigerant must be extracted beforehand, e.g. with air conditioner service station -VAS 6007A- (or later model).
t  Releasing refrigerant into the environment is a punishable offence.
t  Comply with notes → Chapter.
t  In vehicles with start-stop system, note abort conditions → Chapter.
Perform the following jobs:
Removing
–  Remove noise insulation under engine → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.
–  Remove radiator → Power unit; Rep. gr.19.
–  Disconnect connecting hoses from charge air cooler.
–  Remove side air ducts from frontend → general body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.
–  Remove centre guide profile from frontend → general body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.63.
   
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
  N21-10457
–  Unscrew bolts -1- (12 Nm) of refrigerant lines -2-.
–  Tilt condenser -3- with charge air cooler -4- towards engine and pull upwards out of retainer.
–  Take condenser -3- with charge air cooler -4- out downwards.
–  Unscrew bolts -7- (5 Nm) from condenser -3-.
–  Separate condenser -3- from charge air cooler -4-.

Installing
–  Install condenser in reverse order of removal.
