Removing and installing 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317-
  Note
The 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317-is located on right longitudinal member on plenum chamber bulkhead.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamps up to 40 mm -3093-
  W00-0671
t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-
Removing
–  Place drip tray -VAS 6208- beneath engine.
–  Clamp off coolant hoses to 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317- using hose clamps to 40 mm -3093-.
  WARNING
Danger of scalding injuries.
The cooling system is pressurised. When the engine is warm, the coolant temperature may be above 100 °C.
If necessary, release pressure and reduce temperature before carrying out repairs.
–  Drain coolant circuit → Power unit; Rep. gr.19.

–  Disconnect connector -1- on 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317--3-.
–  Open clamps -4- and pull coolant hoses off 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317-.
–  Undo nut -2- (20 Nm) and pull 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317--3- off bracket.
Installing
–  Install 2nd heat exchanger switch-off valve -N317- in reverse order of removal.
–  Replenish coolant and bleed cooling system → Power unit; Rep. gr.19.
