Removing and installing auxiliary air heater elementZ35
Removing and installing auxiliary air heater element -Z35-
  Note
t  Installed only in vehicles with diesel engines without supplementary heater.
t  Checking: with vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051- (or later model), under Heating, ventilation, air conditioning; Systems capable of self-diagnosis; Auxiliary heating; Electrical components.
Removing
–  Disconnect battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove knee airbag → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.69.
  WARNING
Observe the general safety regulations when working on the airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnical components) → Rep. gr.69.
–  Remove footwell vent on driver side → Chapter.
–  Mark installation position of positioner -1- to heater and air conditioning unit -2-.
   
–  Pull positioner -1- out of heater and air conditioning unit -2-.

–  Remove heat exchanger cover -1-, undo bolts -arrows- for this.
  N80-10315
–  Disconnect connector -2- for auxiliary air heater element -Z35--1-.
–  Pull auxiliary air heater element -Z35- out of heater and air conditioning unit.
Installing
–  Install auxiliary air heater element -Z35- in reverse order of removal.
