Switching unit: Assembly overview
1 - The gear selection mechanism
q   Consists of selector shaft and selector shaft cover
q   Components cannot be separated from each other
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
2 - Reversing light switch -F4-
q   Tighten to 20 Nm
q   Apply a thin coat of lubricating grease → Electronic spare parts catalogue (ETKA).
3 - Locking pin
q   For adjusting selector mechanism
4 - Idler rod
q   installation position
q   May be plastic or metallic
5 - Mounting bush
q   Not required if the idler rod is plastic
6 - Seal
q   Remove with extractor -T20143-
q   replace → Chapter
7 - Conical hexagon bolt
q   Tighten to 23 Nm
q   Self-locking
q   Always replace.
8 - Gearbox selector lever
q   Attach in such a way that the interrupted cog area aligns with the selection shaft
q   Can be renewed with the selector mechanism installed
q   Installation position → Fig.
9 - Cap
q   For gearbox breather
10 - Retainer washer
q   Always replace.
q   Not required if the idler rod is plastic
11 - Sealing plug
12 - Spring
q   Not fitted in all gearboxes
q   If installed, re-install

   
Removing angled rod -A- from selector shaft cover
–  Remove outer part of angled rod.
–  Then carefully lever out angled rod using a screwdriver.

Pressing angled rod -A- into selector shaft cover
Installation position:
Marking -arrow- points to upper part of selector shaft.
