Selector lever: removal and fitting
To replace individual parts, remove the selector lever → Chapter
1 - Selector lever
q   Fitting → Fig.
2 - Gear lighting
q   Fit the connector for the gear lighting
3 - Spring
4 - Pressure rod
q   Grease contact surfaces
5 - Guide bush
q   Fit after fitting the pressure rod
6 - Electromagnet for selector lever locking -N110-
q   Adjusting → Fig.
q   Test functioning → Fig.
q   This can be checked with the measured value block and during the electrical check → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
7 - 3 Nm
q   2 units
q   Fit with -AMV 185 101 A1- sealant
8 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   To remove the bolt, remove the electro magnet for locking the selector lever and the gear lighting. Secure the bolt in a workshop vice and loosen by turning the selector lever
q   Fit with -AMV 185 101 A1- sealant
9 - 10 Nm
q   Self-locking
q   Renew
10 - Spring
q   Fit together with the rod → Item into the selector lever
11 - Rod
q   To lock in selector lever position “N” or “P”
12 - Bush
13 - Meshing piece
q   Before fitting to the selector lever casing, assembly the selector lever → Fig.
14 - 10 Nm
q   Grease the bolt

   
Fit the selector lever before positioning it
Before fitting the selector lever in the selector lever casing, adjust the electro magnet for locking the selector lever -N110- → Fig. and check its correct working order → Fig..
–  Insert the bolt -arrow 1- and fit the bolts -arrow 2- of the selector lever locking magnet -N110- with -D 000 600 A2- sealant.

Adjust the electro magnet for locking the selector lever -N110-
–  Loosen electro magnet attachment bolts -arrow 1-.
–  Push the pushrod and move the electro magnet longitudinally until there is a distance -a- of 0.3 mm between the pushrod and the locking lever.
–  Apply D 000 600 A2 locking paste to the attachment bolts -arrow 1-.
Tightening torque: 3 Nm
–  Check the working order → Fig..

Check the working order of the electro magnet for locking the selector lever -N110-
–  Move the selector lever to position “P” and apply 12 V voltage to the electro magnet. The selector lever cannot be moved to another driving range.
–  Interrupt the operating of the electro magnet.
The pushrod must not become hooked up with the locking lever and it must be possible to engage all driving ranges.
–  Position the selector lever at “N” and check how in “P”.

Fit the gear lighting connector
–  Fit the bracket with the tap -arrow- until it engages.
–  Fit the connector cable on the bracket and fit the connector onto the support.
