Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque spanners -SAT 8010-
t  Drip tray -V.A.G 1306-
t  Pressure tester -V.A.G 1702-
t  Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051-
t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3-

The main pressure must be checked, where possible, on a test bench with rollers.
–  Remove left-hand shelf.
   
–  With the ignition switched off, fit the connector from diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3- to the diagnosis connection: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis

–  Remove bolt -arrow- from the drilled hole for the main pressure. Always renew the bolt.
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1702- tester and tighten the knurled screw.
–  Start the engine.
–  Bleed the -V.A.G 1702- by loosening the knurled screw and then tightening again after bleeding.
–  Raise ATF temperature to 60 °C.

If there are differences in the prescribed values, this may be due to:

–  Shut off engine.
   
–  Check the fuse and unplug the connector -arrows-.
–  Start the engine.

After measuring:
–  Remove pressure tester -V.A.G 1702-.
–  Fit a new bolt in the drilled hole for the main pressure and tighten.
Tightening torque: 15 Nm
–  Attach the connector for the solenoid valves.
–  Interrogate fault memory and erase it.
