Hydraulic cam followers: checking |

| The cam followers are replaced complete, they cannot be adjusted or repaired. |

| Slight noises from the valves during starting are normal. |

| Start up the engine and make it turn until the radiator fan has switched on. |

| Raise engine speed to 2500 rpm for 2 minutes. |
If the cam followers are still producing noise, carry out the following operations to locate the faulty follower: |

| Remove the cylinder head cover. |

| Turn the crankshaft clockwise (seen from the sprocket), until the cams of the followers to be checked are situated above. |
Next measure the clearance between cams and followers: |

| If it is greater than 0.1 mm, replace the follower. |
–
| If it is less than 0.1 mm, continue the check. |
