Functioning
The engine control unit communicates with the ABS control unit via a data bus CAN.
These control units, designed for data bus, are interconnected by means of two data bus wires twisted round each other (CAN_High and CAN_Low) and interchange information (messages). The lack of information in the data bus is interpreted as a fault by the engine control unit and by the ABS control unit, interconnected via the data bus CAN.
In order to function without static problems, the data bus CAN needs the control units in front of the bus CAN controller to have a matching resistor of 120 Ω each. These matching resistors are found at the control units of the engine and of the ABS.
