Removing → Anchor
replace → Anchor
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  counterhold -T20034D-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T20058A-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Tappet -T20039-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
(With cylinder head installed)
–  Remove camshaft → Chapter.
–  Take out bucket tappets and set them down with bearing surface facing downwards. Ensure that the followers are not mixed up.
–  Bring the piston of the respective cylinder to TDC so that the valves press on the piston head.
   
–  Apply the retaining tool -T20034D- with the adapter -T20034/34-.
–  Remove the valve springs.

The valves press on the piston crown.

–  Extract the valve stem seals with the extractor -T20058A- .

Replacing
–  Fit the plastic sleeve -A- on to the corresponding valve stem (this sleeve is included with the spare part). In this way, damage to the new valve guide seal is avoided -B-.
–  Fit the new valve stem seal onto the installation tool -T20039-.
–  Lubricate the sealing lip of valve stem seal and carefully slide the seal onto the valve guide.
Continue the installation in the reverse order of removal sequence, observing the following:
–  Install the camshaft → Chapter
