If during repairs to the engine the oil is found to contain large quantities of metal shavings and particles produced by wear and erosion, for example from the bed plate bearings, to avoid further damage derived from this problem, apart from cleaning the oil lines perfectly, the oil radiator must be replaced.

Before carrying out assembly work, oil should be applied to the support and slide surfaces.
