  WARNING
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
All the various lines (e.g. fuel, hydraulic system, active carbon filter system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum pipes and hoses) and electrical wiring must be installed in their original positions.
Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
Please note the following if test equipment has to be used during a test drive:
l  Always install the test and measurement equipment in the back seat of the vehicle so that they may be used by a second mechanic
l  If test equipment is operated from the front passenger's seat, the occupant could suffer injury in the event of an accident if the front passenger's airbag is triggered.
To avoid injury to personnel and/or damage to the preheating and injection system, the following points should be observed:
l  Remove and connect all cable for the preheating and injection system, including the cables for the test equipment only with the ignition OFF
l  If the engine is to be rotated using the starter but without starting it, for example: for testing compression, the connector of the injection pump on the cylinder head must be disconnected
l  If there is an anti theft code radio, check the code before disconnecting the battery
l  The battery may only be removed and connected with the ignition off; if not, the control unit for the direct diesel injection system may be damaged
