Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pliers for spring-type clips -VAS 5024 A- → Anchor see equivalency
  W00-1179
t  Torque wrench (5... 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
  W00-0427
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth wire -arrow- at battery.
–  Remove the intake hose → Item releasing the spring type clips → Item with the spring type clip pliers -VAS 5024A-.
–  Remove throttle valve module -J338- → Chapter.
–  Remove the servo brake pressure hose.

–  Remove hoses from the fastenings -3-.
–  Remove bolts -5-.
–  Remove fuel rail with injectors -7- from housing on the intake collector.
–  Remove connection hose → Item by unscrewing the bolts → Item.
–  Remove connector from the intake manifold pressure gauge sensor -G71- with air intake temperature sensor -G42- → Item
–  Extract the bolts → Item and remove the intake manifold.
Installing
Install in reverse order to dismantling, noting the following:

Replace the O-ring if damaged → Item.
–  Renew the O-rings at all opened connections.
–  Lubricate the O-rings with clean engine oil.
–  Fit the fuel distribution with the injectors secured to the intake manifold and insert it evenly.
–  Fit the fuel rail hose to the intake manifold. Tightening torque: 7 Nm
–  Bolt on the intake manifold. Tightening torque: 20 Nm
–  Purge the fuel system → Chapter.
