Safety precautions when working on cooling system |
WARNING Steam may be released when opening the expansion tank. |
t
| Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid eye injuries and scalding. |
t
| Cover the cap with a cloth and open carefully. |
|
Caution When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions: |
t
| All the various lines (e.g. fuel, hydraulic system, active carbon filter system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum pipes and hoses) and electrical wiring must be installed in their original positions. |
t
| To avoid damage to lines, ensure sufficient clearance from all moving or hot components. |
|
Note t
| When the engine is hot the cooling system is under pressure. If necessary, relieve pressure before commencing repair work. |
t
| To fit the spring clips, use the spring clip pliers. |
t
| Renew gaskets and seals. |
t
| Coolant hoses should be free from tension when installing, so that they do not come into contact with other components (observe markings on coolant connection and hose). |
