Notes on installing
Notes on installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:
–  Check clutch release bearing for wear, renew if necessary.
–  Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and splines on input shaft with -G 000 100-.
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centralising engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block, install if necessary.
–  When installing the assembly, ensure sufficient clearance to drive shafts.
   
–  When installing the engine supports, ensure that the right rear console clip and the front console groove fit into the metal/rubber bearing guides -arrow-.
–  Align engine mountings stress-free by rocking.
–  Install front exhaust pipe → Rep. Gr.26.
–  Installing drive shafts → Running gear; Rep. Gr.40.
Vehicles with air conditioner
–  Install the air-conditioner compressor → Heating, air conditioner; Rep. Gr.87.
Vehicles with power assisted steering
–  Install the power assisted steering vane pump → Running gear; Rep. Gr.48.
–  Install hydraulic clutch master cylinder → 5-Speed manual gearbox 02K/02J; Rep. Gr.30.
–  Install selector mechanism → 5-Speed manual gearbox 02K/02J; Rep. Gr.34.
–  If necessary adjust gearchange cables → 5-Speed manual gearbox 02J; Rep. Gr.34.
–  Electrical connections and cabling → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
Engine codes AGR, ALH, ASV
–  Install the intercooler and hoses connecting intercooler/turbocharger to intercooler/intake manifold → Rep. Gr.21.
Continue for all vehicles
–  Install lock holder cover and accessories → Bodywork assembly; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Install the Poly-V belt → Chapter.
–  Fill cooling liquid → Chapter.
–  Check if necessary, correct headlamp adjustment → Booklet.
–  Read fault memories of all control units → Diagnostics operations unitVAS 5051.
–  Carry out test drive and read fault memories of all control units again.
