Tightening torques > < Securing engine to assembly stand

Fitting
Install in reverse order but note following:
  WARNING
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, due to the cramped conditions, pay attention to the following:
l  Route all sorts of pipes (e.g. for fuel, hydraulics, activated charcoal system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum pipes and hoses) and electrical wiring so that the original positions are restored
l  Ensure sufficient clearance from all moving or hot components.
–  Check clutch release bearing for wear, renew if necessary.
–  Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and input shaft splines with -G 000 100-.
–  Check centring of clutch plate, if necessary → Rep. Gr.30.
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centring engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block, install if necessary.
   
–  Fit intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves -arrows-.
–  When installing the engine assembly, ensure there is sufficient clearance with relation to drive shafts.
–  Install the engine assembly and the supports and align engine by rocking in such a way that the supports carry no tension.
–  Tighten the engine assembly supports → Chapter.
–  Fit driveshafts → Rep. Gr.40.
Vehicles with air conditioning/heating system
–  Fit air conditioning/heating system compressor → Rep. Gr.87.
–  Fit ribbed belt → Chapter.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Electrical connections and routing → Rep. Gr.97.
–  Install the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder → Rep. Gr.30.
–  Fit the gearbox selector mechanism → Rep. Gr.34.
–  Secure front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold → Item.
–  Fit the insulation tray → Rep. Gr.50.
–  Fill with coolant → Chapter.
–  Fit engine protection together with air filter → Fig..
  Note
If the battery is reconnected check the vehicle equipment (radio / radio and navigation system, clock, power windows), following the indications in the Operating Instructions.
–  Perform the work sequence “procedure after voltage supply open circuit” → Chapter.
–  Carry out a test drive and interrogate fault memory → Chapter.
