Cooling system water tightness checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Tester -SAT 1274-

t	Adapter -V.A.G 1274/8-

t	Adapter -V.A.G 1274/9-

Checking conditions

l	Engine at service temperature

Test sequence

WARNING

Steam can be released when removing the cap from the expansion tank. The cap should be covered with a cloth and opened carefully

–	Open cap on coolant expansion tank.

–	Fit tester -SAT 1274- with adaptor -V.A.G 1274/8- in expansion tank.

–	With the tester hand pump a pressure of 1 bar should be created.

If the pressure falls:

–	Locate the leak in the fitting and eliminate the fault.

Pressure relief valve in the locking cap: checking

–	Fit tester -SAT 1274- with adaptor -V.A.G 1274/9- in locking cap.

–	Operate hand pump. The pressure relief valve should open at 1,4 … 1,6 bar.
