Notes on removing
  Note!
In order to perform these jobs, it is necessary to remove the ground strip from the battery. For this purpose, it must be checked whether the vehicle has a coded radio on board, and if so, the antitheft coding must be consulted
–  The engine is dismounted with the gearbox in an upward direction.
–  With the ignition disengaged, disconnect the ground strip from the battery.
–  Open the compensation tank cap in order to release the pressure from the cooling system.
–  Dismount the air cleaner with the intake hose → Chapter, Air cleaner disassemble and assemble.

–  Remove the supply piping and the fuel return - Pos. -1- and -2- (press the unlocking button). Cover the pipes to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system.
  Caution
Fuel supply pipes are under pressure! Before removing from hose connection wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.
–  Remove the flexible tubes for removing pressure and those for intake/bleeding from the engine.
–  Remove the tank for the windscreen wiper/headlight wiper → Rep. Gr.92.
–  Unhook the clutch control cable: → Rep. Gr.30.
–  Dismount the gear stick from the gearbox: → Rep. Gr.34.
–  Dismount the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold → Chapter.
–  Remove ribbed belt → Chapter.

–  Loosen the attachment bolts from the pulley for the power-steering wing pump, to do so use the pulley wrench -U-40011-.
–  Unbolt power steering vane pump and secure to sub-frame with wire; hoses remain connected: → Rep. Gr.48.
–  Remove the attachment clamps for the power steering pressure pipe.
Vehicles with air conditioning
–  Partially dismount the compressor from the air-conditioning → Chapter.
Continue for all vehicles
–  Remove the articulated axle shafts from the gearbox and support them by holding them up in the air → Drive train; Rep. Gr.40.
–  Remove the coolant → Chapter.
–  Loosen the steel strip clamps and extract the coolant flexible tubes from the housing for the thermostat.
  Note!
All the cable holders that are opened or cut when dismounting the engine must be mounted again in the same place as before at the time of the assembly.
–  Take out all the electrical cables for the gearbox alternator, and starter motor and leave them in a visible place.
–  Remove the connectors fitted from the engine together with the casing for the thermostat and leave all the other electrical cables that are needed in a visible place.

–  Attach the suspension device -U-30034- as shown in the figure and raise slightly with the workshop crane.
  E10-0020
–  Release the bolts that attach the drive unit to the gearbox and engine supports and extract the front support, to do so unscrew the bolts -arrows-.
–  Turn the drive unit slightly towards the left (engine facing forwards, gearbox looking backwards) and carefully push it upwards.
  Note!
The drive unit must be moved very carefully when removed from the vehicle so that the bodywork is not damaged.
  E10-0022
