Checking compression pressures
Checking compression pressures
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Plug spanner -U-30037-
  W00-2160
t  Compression tester -V.A.G 1763- or -V.A.G 1381-
Test conditions
l  Engine oil temperature must be at least 30 °C.
l  Voltage supply, OK
Work sequence
  W00-0563
–  Pull 4 pin connector -1- off output stage for ignition coils -2-.
  N28-0093
–  Remove fuse 7 for the fuel/injector pump.
–  Remove spark plugs.
–  Disconnect the injection connectors.
–  Use a second mechanic to fully depress accelerator pedal.
  Note!
Using the compression tester → Operating instructions.
–  Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression pressure:
   New: 10 … 13 bar
   Wear limit: 7,5 bar
Permissible difference between all cylinders: 3 bar
–  Read fault memories of all control units → Diagnostics operations unitVAS 5051.
