| When installing the bearing cap note offset, before installing camshaft fit bearing caps and determine fitting position. |

| Oil the camshaft contact surfaces. |

| Tighten bearing caps 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally to 20 Nm. |

| Apply a little sealant -AMV 174 004 01- to the contact surface of bearing cap 1. |
–
| Install bearing caps 3, 1 and 5 and tighten to 20 Nm. |
–
| Insert woodruff key in camshaft. |
–
| Install camshaft sprocket and tighten to 100 Nm (Counter-hold with -T20018A-). |
Note! The crankshaft should not be at TDC when the camshaft is turned, because the valves or the piston heads could be damaged. |
The rest of the assembly is basically a reverse of the dismantling sequence. |
Installing toothed belt and adjusting valve timing → Chapter. |
Note! When new tappets have been installed the engine must not be started for about 30 minutes. Hydraulic compensation elements must settle (otherwise valves will strike pistons). |
