Check the assembly position of the caps: the wide cast projection -arrow A- must be pointing to the intake side and the cap number -arrow B- must be readable from the exhaust side. |

| Lubricate the sliding surfaces of the camshafts. |

| Tighten caps “2” and “4”, diagonally and alternately, to a torque of 6 Nm. |

| Apply sealant a thin layer of -AMV 174 004 01- to the contact surface of caps “1” and “5”. |

| Install caps “3”, “1” and “5”, and also tighten them to a torque of 6 Nm. Install the ignition distributor to center cap “5”. |
–
| Continue to tighten all of the nuts by 1/4 turn (90°). |
–
| Insert bolts for cap “5” and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm. |
Continue assembly, following the removal work sequence in reverse order. |
Assembly of the toothed belt and adjustment of the distribution timing → Chapter. |
Note! After installing new tappets, the engine should not be started up for approximately 30 minutes. The hydraulic compensation elements should be grinded (the valves could rest on the piston). |
