Installing > < Removing and installing camshaft
Removing
Removing
–  Remove centre as well as the left and right-hand sound insulation trays: → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.50
–  First remove ribbed belt → Chapter
–  Turn crankshaft back slightly.
   
–  Position camshaft sprockets so that the marks align as shown.
–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Remove camshaft sprocket. Hold camshaft sprocket with counter-hold -T20018- when loosening and tightening.
–  Remove camshaft sprockets.
–  Remove cylinder head cover.
–  Remove ignition distributor.

Inlet camshaft
–  First remove bearing caps 0, 1 and 3 as well as the cap for the ignition distributor securing device (bearing cap 10).
–  Then loosen bearing caps 2 and 4 using alternate and diagonal sequence.
Exhaust camshaft
–  First remove bearing caps 5, 6 and 8.
–  Then loosen bearing caps 7 and 9 using alternate and diagonal sequence.
