| If, during engine repairs, large quantities of metal shavings or particles caused by mechanical wear to, e.g. the bedplate bearings or conrod head bearings, are found in the engine oil, the oil cooler must be repaced and the oil channels must be cñeaned carefully to prevent further damage. |

| The oil level must not be above max. mark on dipstick - danger of damage to catalytic converter. Marks → Fig.. |

| Engine oil specification: |
| Use engine oil to VW standard 500 00, 501 01 or 502 00. Only in exceptional cases: multi-grade oils corresponding to API-SF or SG specifications. |
