Checking activation of final output stages: checking
–  Pull off connectors from all the injectors.
  Note
In order to avoid damage to the catalytic converter, no fuel must be injected when performing the check. The connectors must be separated, along with the injectors, for the same reason.
   
–  Remove 4-pin connector -1- from one of the ignition coils -2- for checking.
–  Connect the voltage tester -VAG 1527B- to contacts “2” and “3” of the connector.
–  Operate starter briefly. LED lamp must flash.
If the LED lamp does not flash:
–  Checking power supply → Chapter.

–  Connect tester -VAG 1598/31- to control unit cable harness, without connecting engine control unit → Chapter.

–  Check the following wiring for an open circuit or short circuit:

Wire resistance: max. 1,5 Ω.
–  Rectify open circuit or short circuit if necessary.
If no fault is found:
–  Replace the assembly formed by the ignition coil and final output stage.
