Test prerequisites
l  Engine oil okay, check → Chapter
l  Engine oil temperature: at least 80 °C (the cooler fan must have run once)
  Note
Checking operation of and servicing visual and acoustic oil pressure gauge → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Remove the oil pressure switch -F1- → Item, green insulation, and screw it into the tester.
   
–  Attach the oil pressure tester -VAG 1342- to the borehole for the oil pressure switch.
–  Screw tester into cylinder head in place of oil pressure switch.
–  Connect brown wire of tester to earth (-).
–  Connect voltage tester -VAG 1527B- with auxiliary cables from the auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C- to positive of battery (+) and to oil pressure switch.
l  LED should not light up.
  Note
Renew oil pressure switch -F1- if LED lights up at this stage.
–  Start the engine.
  Note
Observe oil pressure tester and LED while starting engine, as switching point of oil pressure switch may already be exceeded when starting.
l  LED should light up at 0.3 ... 0.6 bar.
–  If LED does not light up, replace oil pressure switch -F1- → Chapter.
