t  Cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274-
t  Adapter for cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274/7-
t  Adapter for cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274/8-
t  Adapter for cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274/9-

Test prerequisite
l  Engine at operating temperature
Test procedure:
  WARNING
Hot steam may escape when expansion tank is opened. Place rag over cap and open with caution.
–  Open cap on coolant expansion tank.
   
–  Attach cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274- with cooling system tester adapter -V.A.G 1274/8- or cooling system tester adapter -V.A.G 1274/7- onto expansion tank.
–  Use hand pump on tester to create a pressure of about 1.0 bar.
If pressure drops:
–  Find leaks and rectify.
Checking pressure relief valve in filler cap
  A19-0036
–  Attach cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274- with cooling system tester adapter -V.A.G 1274/9- to cap.
–  Use hand pump on cooling system tester to create a pressure of max. 1.6 bar.
The pressure relief valve must not open.
If the pressure relief valve opens prematurely:
–  Renew sealing cap.
–  Increase pressure to over 1.6 bar.
The pressure relief valve must open.
If the pressure relief valve does not open:
–  Renew sealing cap.
