Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Refractometer -T10007-
t  Drip tray -V.A.G 1306- or drip tray -VAS 6208-
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024 A-
t  Cooling system charging unit -VAS 6096-
t  Adapter -V.A.G 1274/8-
t  Torque wrench (5...50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-

Removing
(with engine installed)
  Note
t  Always renew seals and gaskets.
t  Cover toothed belt with a cloth to protect it from coolant before removing coolant pump.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.
   
–  Remove coolant pump securing bolts -1- and carefully remove coolant pump -2-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
  N19-0234
–  Moisten new O-ring -3- with coolant.
–  Insert coolant pump -2- into cylinder block and tighten securing bolts -1-. Torque setting: 15 Nm.
  Note
The coolant pump plug faces downwards.
–  Installing and tensioning toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Fill with coolant → Chapter.
