Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Wrench -U 40082-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adaptor -V.A.G 1381/12-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Compression tester -VAG 1763-, see equivalent → Anchor

Test requirements
l  Engine oil temperature at least. 30 ?
l  Battery voltage: min. 12.5 V
Checking sequence
–  Detach main connector for the injector pump unit.
–  Unscrew the glow plugs using spark plug spanner -U-40082-.
   
–  Screw in the adaptor -V.A.G 1381/12- in the place of the glow plugs.
–  Check compression with compression tester -V.A.G 1763-.
  Note
Use of the testing equipment → Instructions.
–  Operate starter until pressure reading on tester no longer rises.

–  Fit the glow plugs using spark plug spanner -U-40082- to 15 Nm.
–  Interrogating fault memory:
  Note
When the central connection for the pump injectors is removed, this is recorded by the fault memory. For this, check the fault memory and, if necessary, clear it.
