Cleaning rules
When working on the fuel supply/injection system, pay careful attention to the following “rules of cleanliness”:
l  Thoroughly clean all unions and the adjacent areas before opening.
l  Place removed parts on a clean surface and cover. Do not use rags that shed fibres!
l  If repairs cannot be completed in one session, all parts and components that are left open should be covered or stored with the greatest of care
l  Only fit clean components: only take spares out of their packaging just before assembly.
l  Do not use parts that have been stored loose (e.g. in toolboxes etc.).
l  If the system is open, do not apply compressed air if possible. Do not move vehicle unless necessary
l  Also, be extremely careful not to spill petrol on the coolant hoses. If necessary, immediately clean the tubes. Damaged hoses affected must be replaced
