t  Adapter -VAG 1381/12-
   
t  Compression tester -VAG 1763-
t  Jointed spanner -3220-
t  Torque wrench (5…50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-
Test prerequisite
l  Engine oil temperature at least. 30 ℃
Test procedure
–  Remove glow plug from relevant cylinder using U/J extension and 10 mm socket -3220- → Chapter.
–  Screw in adapter -V.A.G 1763/12- in place of glow plug.
–  Check compression using compression tester -V.A.G 1763-.

Using the compression tester ⇒ Operating instructions
–  Turn over engine until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression pressures:
New: 25 - 31 bar
Wear limit: 19 bar
Max. deviation allowed between both cylinders: 5 bar.
–  Install glow plug using U/J extension and socket, 10 mm -3220- → Chapter.
  Note
Faults will have been stored because the connectors for injectors have been disconnected. Therefore, read fault memory and clear if necessary.
–  Read fault memory of engine control unit → Chapter.
