Removing and installing air filter housing
Removing and installing air filter housing
t  Removing → Anchor.
t  Installing → Anchor.
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Base -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing .
Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.

–  Remove the engine cover upwards -arrows-.
  WARNING
t  The fuel system is pressurised. Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
t  The temperature of the fuel lines or the fuel may reach up to 100 ºC in extreme cases. Before opening the duct connections, allow the fuel to cool otherwise there is a risk of severe burns.
t  Wear protective gloves.
t  Wear eye protection.

–  Separate the fuel return line -1- and fuel supply line -2- by pressing on the release tabs.
–  Disengage fuel hoses -1, 2, 3- at bracket and remove bracket -4-.

–  Remove fuel supply hose -6- (white marking) and fuel return hose -5- (blue marking) from fuel filter.
–  Remove bracket -4- for coolant hose.
–  Slacken bolt -1- a few turns.
–  Unscrew bolt -2- and nut -3-.
–  Detach fuel filter housing -7- with hoses.
Installing .
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, noting the following:

Secure all screw joints with serial hose clips → Spare parts catalogue.
–  Carefully hook the fuel filter into the bracket.
–  Connect the supply and return hoses onto the fuel filter according to the markings.
–  Bleed fuel system → Chapter.
