Automatic glow period control unit -J179- is located in relay and fuse holder in electronics box in plenum chamber. |
A - | Control Unit of the automatic preheating cycle -J179- |
The pre-heating system is controlled via the control Unit of the automatic preheating cycle -J179-. The automatic glow period control unit -J179- is capable of self-diagnosis. |
A fault is stored in the engine control unit if a fault occurs in the glow plug system. |
The procedure for checking the glow plug system is described in the Guided Fault Finding. |
To start the engine fast, the glow plugs with an electronic glow time control is fitted with a separate control unit for the glow time. |
All the glow plugs are activated and diagnosed individually. |
The following points should be taken into account with ceramic glow plugs: |
Caution t
| The ceramic glow plugs are very delicate due to the special properties of its materials and must be handled with special care when mounting as well as dismounting them. |
t
| Transport and store only with the proper original boxing or with padded plastic individual wrapping. |
t
| Do not unpack the ceramic plugs until the moment you will use them. |
t
| The ceramic preheating glow plugs are sensitive to bumps and torsion. For this do not use glow plugs that have fallen, even from an altitude of some 2 cm, even if no damage is detected (like fine cracks). |
t
| Replace the ceramic preheating glow plugs when you doubt its condition. |
t
| Broken or damaged ceramic glow plugs can cause damage to the engine. |
t
| If the plug plug breaks remove from the fuel chamber all the fragments before switching the ignition on, otherwise, the engine will fail due to piston seizing. |
t
| The ceramic preheating glow plugs should not be dismounted for the compression test. |
