Removing and installing fuel system high-pressure pump
Removing and installing fuel system high-pressure pump
t  Removing → Anchor
t  Installing → Anchor
  Caution
The fuel pressure must be reduced prior to opening any components in the high-pressure section of the fuel system. → Chapter
  Note
t  The engine should be cold when removing and fitting the high pressure fuel pump.
t  When fitting the high pressure fuel pump, make sure that no dirt enters the fuel system.
t  Catch the fuel coming out with a rag.
t  The O-ring must always be renewed.
t  Tighten the high pressure fuel pipes free of tensions.
Removing
   
–  Detach electrical connectors from fuel pressure sender for low pressure -G410- and fuel pressure regulating valve -N276--1 and 2-.
–  Open both the fuel lines.
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Carefully pull out high-pressure fuel pump. The hose may remain stuck to the cylinder head.
Installing
–  Renew O-ring for high-pressure pump.
–  Carefully fit high-pressure pump and sleeve in cylinder head bore.
–  Tighten the screws cross-wise to 9 Nm.
–  Tighten bolt for fuel return line finger-tight. Align so that parts are free of tension.
  Note
Renew bolt for fuel return pipe.
–  Manually tighten union nut on fuel supply line. Align so that parts are free of tension.
Tightening torque for fuel return line: 17 Nm
Tightening torque for fuel supply line: 27 Nm
–  Reattach electrical connectors for fuel pressure sender (low pressure) -G410- and fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-.
  Note
Ensure that the fuel system is completely sealed.
