  Caution
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
t  All the various lines (e.g. fuel, hydraulic system, active carbon filter system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum pipes and hoses) and electrical wiring must be installed in their original positions.
t  To prevent damaging the hoses, ensure that all mobile or hot components are easily accessible.
  Note
t  The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. Therefore, this pressure must de reduced before repairing.
t  Hose connections are secured with spring type clips. Always use spring clips when performing repairs.
t  To fit the spring clips, use the spring clip pliers -VAS 5024A-.
t  Coolant hoses should be free from tension when installing, so that they do not come into contact with other components (observe markings on coolant connection and hose).
Check the cooling system for leaks using the cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274- and the cooling system tester adaptor -V.A.G 1274/8- and -V.A.G 1274/9-
