Camshaft, checking axial play > < Valve control

Assembly overview
1 - 40 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Rotate to the left
q   Replace
2 - 50 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Replace
3 - Variator
q   Do not disassemble
q   Check the position on fitting the distribution chain → Chapter
4 - Camshaft gear
q   Check the position on fitting the distribution chain → Chapter
5 - Valve 1 for variable distribution adjustment -N205-
6 - 10 Nm
7 - O-ring
q   Replace
q   Oil before fitting
8 - 10 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Renew
q   Tighten from centre outwards
9 - Camshaft housing
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Remove any sealant remains.
q   Before mounting, apply D 188 003 A1
q   When installing fit vertically from above onto studs and dowel pins
10 - Roller rocker arms
q   Check roller bearing
q   Oil contact surface
q   Use securing clip to clip onto support element when installing
11 - Semicones
12 - Supporting element
q   Check the oil injection hole
q   With hydraulic valve clearance compensation.
q   Do not confuse
q   Before installing, check camshaft axial clearance → Chapter
q   Oil contact surface

Removing and installing:
q   with cylinder head removed: remove using compressor tool for valve spring -3362-
q   Cylinder head fitted: → Chapter
15 - Valve stem seal
q   Renew → Chapter

q   With sleeve

q   Testing → Chapter
18 - Cylinder head
q   Reworking valve seats → Chapter
q   Reworking sealing surface → Fig.

q   Not to be reworked; only grinding-in permissible
q   Valve dimensions → Fig.

25 - Guide sleeve

   
Check the sealing surface of the cylinder head
Cylinder head reworking dimension: a = at least 108.25 mm
  Note
When the sealing surface is reworked, the valves must be lowered by the same amount (rework the valve seat inserts), if not the pistons will collide with the valves. Make sure that it is not below the minimum permissible reworking level → Chapter.
