Bleeding air from fuel system   Note t  To avoid damage to the catalytic converter, the fuel system must be purged of air without return line after performing work on fuel lines or on fuel filter. The vehicle must only be started after purging the system of air. t  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  V.A.G 1348 remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- t  Adaptor cable -V.A.G 1348/3-3-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Diesel fuel extractor -VAS 5226- t  Adapters -V.A.G 1318/20- t  Adapters -V.A.G 1318/20-1- t  Stepladder -VAS 5085-   WARNING Fuel system is under pressure! Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe. –  Remove cover from fuel delivery unit.

–  Using the auxiliary cables of the auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-, connect the V.A.G 1348 remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- to contact -5- of the fuel pump and to the (+) positive terminal of the battery. –  Join contact -5- and contact -1- of the fuel pump using the auxiliary cables of the auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.

–  Unscrew cover -arrow- of breather valve.

–  Turn valve (on T piece) anti-clockwise until it is entirely open. –  Fit adapter -V.A.G 1318/20-1- onto adapter -V.A.G 1318/20-. –  Fit adapter -V.A.G 1318/20- to bleed valve by hand.

–  Attach hose of the diesel fuel extractor -VAS 5226- as shown. –  Screw valve (on T piece) clockwise to stop into bleed valve. –  Check the adaptor and hose connectors for leaks. –  Operate remote control V.A.G 1348 -V.A.G 1348/3A- until fuel flows free of air bubbles from bleed valve.

–  Turn valve (on T piece) anti-clockwise until it is entirely open again. –  Block off hose of the diesel fuel extractor -VAS 5226- (e.g. with a hose clamp for diameters up toØ 25 mm -3094-) and remove from the adaptor -V.A.G 1318/20–1-. –  Remove the adaptor -V.A.G 1318/20- of the bleeding valve.

–  Fit protective cover -arrow- of bleeder valve again.
