Prerequisites:
The fuel tank must not be more than 1/2
  Note
t  If necessary, empty the fuel tank with the fuel extractor -VAS 5190- → Chapter
t  Observe the safety precautions before starting work → Chapter.
t  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter
–  First check whether a coded radio is fitted. Check the anti-theft code in this case.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
–  Fold down the rear seat forwards.
–  Remove the fuel delivery unit cover.
  WARNING
Fuel supply pipes are pressurised. Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.
   
–  Disconnect the connector and the fuel pipes -1 and 2- from the flange.

Press in safety ring to release fuel lines.

–  Open the sealing ring using the fuel gauge spanner -3087-.
–  Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of their housing in fuel tank.
