Poly-V belt: Removing and installing t  Removing → Anchor t  Fitting → Anchor t  Poly-V belt routing with air conditioning compressor → Fig. Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clamp -T10060A-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing –  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.

–  Extract the fuel filter bracket by pulling upwards -arrow- with the hoses connected.   Note

Before removing the ribbed belt, mark its running direction with chalk or with a felt tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause it to rupture. –  To slacken the Poly-V belt, turn the tensioner in the direction of the -arrow-.

–  Immobilise the tensioner of the Poly-V belt with the counterhold -T10060A--arrow-. –  Remove the ribbed belt. Installing: Fit in reverse order from removal, remembering the following:   Note t  Before fitting the Poly-V belt ensure that all sub-assemblies (alternator and air conditioning compressor) are tight. t  When fitting the ribbed belt, ensure that it is fitted with the correct direction of rotation and that it is correctly seated on the pulleys. t  For those vehicles not fitted with air conditioning, fit the Poly-V belt lastly on the alternator. t  For those vehicles fitted with air conditioning, fit the ribbed belt lastly on the compressor for the air conditioning. –  Fit the Poly-V belt on belt pulleys of crankshaft and air conditioning compressor. –  Fit Poly-V belt to the alternator belt pulley last and take counter-hold -T10060A- of the tensioning element off. –  Check Poly-V belt is correctly positioned. –  Start engine and check belt running.
