Test requirements
l  The fuses must be in good condition.
l  The voltage of the battery must be at least 12 V. If necessary, connect the battery charger.
l  All consumer electrics, for example: lights, heated rear window, should be off.

–  Connect the vehicle diagnostics tester -VAS 505X- and perform the guided function “Electrical fuel pump(s): perform” test.
  Note
The fuel pump now runs for approx. 30 seconds.
–  Read off the voltage value displayed on the hand-held multimeter -V.A.G 1526D-: Specification = Battery voltage
If no voltage is present:
–  Check the activation of the pump relay and the cables to see if there is a false contact or short circuit. → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051
Voltage supply OK.
–  Remove fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
