internal sealing: Check
  Note
After fitting a used tandem pump, for example after changing or repairing the cylinder head or engine parts, the internal seal of the fuel side and oil side of the tandem pump must be inspected. In case of leaks, oil and fuel may be mixed resulting in engine damage.

Operation process
–  Disconnect the fuel supply hose (white mark) → Item and return hose (blue mark) → Item from the tandem pump.
–  Plug the tandem pump fuel return hose using a cover plug. Secure the cover plug using a spring type clip.
Prepare the tester -V.A.G 1687- as described below:
–  Completely unscrew the pressure regulation valve -2- and close the valves -3- and -4-.
  W00-10327
–  Connect the test connection -5- to the tandem pump fuel supply using a standard compressed air connection and a length of fuel hose. Use an elastic spring type clip to hold the connection in place.
  Note
In order to unscrew the pressure regulation valve -2-, the rotary button must be completely upwards.
  V21-0168
–  Connect the compressed air hose -1- (compressed air supply) to the tester -V.A.G 1687-.
  Note
If there is water in the inspection hole, drain it through the drain screw -6-.
–  Open valve -3-.
–  Set the pressure to 1 bar using the pressure regulation valve -2-.
  Caution
The maximum test pressure is 1.3 bar and must not be exceeded.
–  Open the valve -4- and wait for the test circuit to be filled. If necessary reset the pressure to 1 bar.
–  Close the valve -3- to maintain pressure and monitor pressure for 1 minute.
If there is no reduction in pressure then the tandem pump may be re-used; if there is a drop in pressure, it must be replaced.
