–  Remove engine cover in the -direction of the arrow- .
–  Remove ribbed belt, vacuum pump and cylinder head cover upper protector.
–  Remove the toothed belt from the camshaft wheel and remove the camshaft wheel. → Chapter, Toothed belt: removing, installing and tensioning
  Note!
It is not necessary to remove the damper/belt pulley nor the lower/central protective covers for the toothed belt.
–  Loosen camshaft sprocket securing bolt by 1 turn. To loosen the securing bolt, immobilize the camshaft wheel with counter support -T20018A-.
  Note!
The adjusting rule -T20038- should never be used as a retaining tool to loosen and secure the camshaft wheel. Use counter support -T20018A-.

–  Separate the camshaft sprocket using extractor -T20119-.
–  Remove the camshaft wheel.
–  First remove bearing caps 5, 1 and 3. Loosen alternately and diagonally bearing caps 2 and 4.
