Test the main belt tensioning roller
Test process
  W00-2760
–  Remove the upper camshaft housing cover -arrows-.
–  Remove the upper air filter element → Chapter.
–  Remove the upper toothed belt shield.
–  Remove the right soundproofing sump.
–  Mark the direction of rotation of the Poly-V belt and remove it as follows:
  E15-0065
–  Apply a spanner to the tensioning roller mounting bolt and move the roller in the -direction of the arrow-.
–  Remove the Poly-V belt.
  V13-1286
–  Loosen mounting bolt of the pulley and the toothed belt pinion; to do so, fix the pulley with the countersupport -T20018-.
–  Remove the pulley. Screw the bolt back in with two washers to retain the toothed belt pinion.
–  Turn the crankshaft over twice in the direction of engine rotation until it is back at top dead centre for cylinder 1.
–  Remove the lower toothed belt shield.
  E13-0001
–  Memorise the position of the tensioning roller indicator arm -arrow-. Press down hard on the toothed belt with your thumb. The indicator arm should move.
–  Release the pressure on the toothed belt.
–  Turn the crankshaft over twice in the direction of engine rotation.
–  Check the position of the indicator arm. The indicator arm should be back at its original position.
If the indicator arm does not return to its original position:
–  Replace the tensioning roller.
Test the return belt tensioning roller
