Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vacuum gauge -V.A.G 1368-
t  Adaptor -SAT 1368/1-
t  Manual vacuum pump -SAT 1390-

Test process
   
–  Remove the breather line -2- of the activated charcoal filter -1- from the throttle valve control unit -3-.
–  Attach manual vacuum pump -SAT 1390- to the line -2-.
–  Remove the breather line -5- from the fuel tank to activated charcoal filter and attach it to vacuum gauge -V.A.G 1368- -intake A-; to do so, use adaptor -SAT 1368/1-.
–  Attach the vacuum gauge -V.A.G 1368- -intake B- to the breather line -4- to the activated charcoal filter; to do so, use adaptor -SAT 1368/1-.
–  Set the vacuum gauge at position -B-.
–  Start the final control diagnosis and select the activated charcoal filter solenoid valve → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information systemVAS 5051.
–  Activate manual vacuum pump -SAT 1390- several times. No vacuum should be created.
If vacuum is created:
–  Check the breather connection -6- of the activated charcoal filter -1- for dirt; if necessary, clean it.
If no vacuum is created:
–  Unscrew the fuel filler hole plug.

–  Connect manual vacuum pump -SAT 1390- to vacuum gauge -V.A.G 1368- -intake B-.
–  Set the vacuum gauge at position -A/B-.
–  Activate the SAT 1390 several times. No vacuum should be created.
If vacuum is created:
–  Test the gravity valve → Item.
–  Measure the continuity of flow of the fuel tank line -1-.
If no vacuum is created:
–  Screw in the fuel filler hole plug.
–  Activate manual vacuum pump SAT 1390 several times: no vacuum should be created.
  Note!
If the fuel level in the fuel tank is low, the manual vacuum pump must be activated approx. 20…30 times.
If vacuum is created:
–  Replace the fuel filler hole plug.
