Fit
Conditions
l  Also keep dirt and sealant residues out of the cylinder head.
l  The sealing surfaces must be kept oil and grease-free.
l  When fitting the camshaft or cylinder head cover, the cylinder 1 cams must face upwards.
l  The pistons must not be at TDC.
–  Eliminate sealant residues from the cylinder head and cylinder head cover with standard sealant remover.
–  Fit the support elements in the cylinder head and position the corresponding rocker arms on the valve stem ends or on the support elements.
   
–  Check that all the rocker arms rest correctly on the valve stem ends -1- and are clipped to the respective the support elements -2-.
–  Lubricate the camshaft slip surfaces.
–  Carefully fit the camshaft on the cylinder head bearings.

–  Apply a thin even coat of sealant to the clean sealing surface of the cylinder head cover, see the shaded surface in the figure.
  Note!
Do not apply sealant too thickly as the excess could get into the oil flow holes or the camshaft housing and cause damage to the engine.

–  Carefully fit the cylinder head cover vertically from above in the cylinder head holes with the adjustment pins -arrows-.
  Note!
t  Fit and bolt the cylinder head cover without interruption, as the sealing surfaces start drying as soon as they come into contact.
t  The cylinder head cover bolts must be replaced.
  E15-0061
–  Tighten the bolts pos. -1- and -2- alternating crosswise to 6 Nm.
–  Then tighten the rest of the bolts to 6 Nm in the order shown.
–  Finally, retighten all the bolts 1/4 turn (90o).
  Note!
After fitting the cylinder head cover let the sealant dry for about 30 minutes.
–  Fit the new camshaft seal → Chapter.
Continue fitting in the reverse order of removal.
Fitting the toothed belt and setting distribution timing → Chapter.
–  Carry out operation “How to proceed after an interruption in voltage supply”. → Rep. Gr.24
  Note!
The conformity code returns to zero or is cleared each time the fault memory is cleared.
