–  Remove sealant residue on cylinder block and on oil sump carefully.
  WARNING
Wear eye protection.
–  Use rotating plastic brush to remove sealant residue on sealing flange.

–  Cut off nozzle on tube at front marking (Ø of nozzle approx. 3 mm).
  Note
t  The sealant bead may not be thicker than 2-3 mm, as otherwise excess sealant could ingress into the sump and clog the strainer in intake line of the oil pump. In addition, the coolant could drip on the sealing surface of the oil seal of the crankshaft.
t  Before the application of sealant, clean the contact surface of the seal using a clean cloth.
  A17-0081
–  Apply a thin bead of sealant at the edge of the joint between the cylinder block and the sump -arrows-.
  A13-0518
–  Apply a silicon sealant bead, as shown in the figure, on the sealing surface of the sealing flange.
  Caution
Make sure lubrication system is not clogged by excess sealant.
The bead of sealant must not be thicker than specified.
l  Thickness of the sealing paste bead: 2 ... 3 mm.
  A17-0028
–  Apply a thin coat of sealant to bottom sealing surface -shaded area- on sealing flange.
