Installing high-pressure lines > < Components of injection system

Removing and installing high-pressure reservoir

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Socket wrench insert -T40055-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench (5... 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Ratchet 1/2' x 9-12 -VAG 1331/1-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Insert e/c 17 terminal -V.A.G 1331/6-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
  Caution
Risk of malfunctions caused by dirt.
Observe → Chapter „Rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system“.
   
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  E10-10127
–  Unplug electrical connector -arrow- at fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-.

–  Remove bolt -2- and union nuts -1 and 3- and detach high-pressure pipe.

–  Release hose clip -arrow- and detach fuel return hose from fuel rail.
–  Seal off open fuel return hose with a clean plug.

–  Detach vacuum hose -3- and move clear.
  Note
-Items 1 and 2- can be disregarded.
–  Unplug electrical connectors on glow plugs → Chapter.
  A15-11004
–  Disconnect electrical connectors -1, 2 and 3-.
–  Unscrew screw -arrow- and expose the cable guide with wiring harness and move to one side.
–  Loosen union nuts for high-pressure pipes using socket -T40055-.

–  Remove union nuts -1- and bolts -arrows- and detach fuel rail.
–  Set removed fuel rail (with high-pressure pipes attached) down on a clean cloth.
–  Seal off openings in fuel rail with clean plugs.
Installing
Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Install high-pressure pipes free of stress.
  Note
t  Note identification marks for cylinder allocation when re-installing high-pressure pipes.
t  The high-pressure pipes can be re-used after performing the following checks:
t  Check sealing cone on corresponding high pressure line for deformation and cracks.
t  The bore of the high-pressure line must not be distorted, restricted or damaged in any other way.
t  Corroded lines should no longer be used.
t  Tightening torque of the high pressure lines. → Chapter „Nozzle units: Assembly overview“
