Checking fuel gauge sender -G-
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Manual multimeter -V.A.G 1526C-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-10311
t  Auxiliary measuring tool -V.A.G 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor
Operation process
–  Removing luggage compartment trim → trims / noise insulations; Rep. gr.70
  W00-10008
–  Unscrew cover for flange -arrows-.
  A20-0803
–  Extract the connectors -1- from the supply unit.
  Note
Ignore -item 2-.
  A20-10976
Fuel gauge sender -G- installed:
  Note
Ignore -item 3-.
–  Connect the hand-held multimeter -VAG 1526C- to measure resistance between contacts -2- and -3-.
l  Sender on the lower limit: min. 53.5 … 59 Ω.
l  Sender on the upper limit: max. 300 … 310 Ω.
  Note
t  If the value 0 Ω is achieved, a short circuit exists; the value ∞ Ω indicates an open circuit in the wire.
t  To test the maximum and minimum resistance values for „tank full“ and „tank empty“, remove the fuel delivery unit → Chapter and move the sender float all the way to its top or bottom position.
t  The following values are obtained with the fuel gauge sender removed on account of the greater deflection of the float arm:
Fuel gauge sender -G- removed:
l  Sender on the lower limit: about 271 … 296 Ω.
l  Sender on the upper limit: about 55 … 69 Ω.
The fuel level indicator sender -G- is defective if the following is determined:
t  great differences with the measuring values.
t  measuring value 0 Ω (short-circuit).
t  measuring value ∞ Ω (no open circuit).
t  electric lines in perfect condition.
–  Install the fuel level indicator sender -G- → Chapter.
