Removing and installing engine control unit
Removing and installing engine control unit

Removing
–  First print out or memorise the control unit identification and also the previous control unit coding .
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Remove the connector → Item for the air hose air mass gauge.
–  Unscrew the bolts → Item on the air filter housing (upper section).
–  Move the housing and the hose to one side. Be careful not to cause any damage.
–  Separate the bracket lugs arrows and remove the engine control unit from the engine forwards arrows.
   
–  Release the top and bottom connectors of the control unit and pull off.
Installing
–  Install control unit connector and lock.
–  Place the new control unit into the retaining frame.
–  Install the air filter housing (upper section) and connect the air mass gauge.
–  Check the previous coding and the coding of the new control unit → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051
–  Match new control unit to the electronic immobiliser → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
–  Consult the the new engine control unit fault memory and, if necessary, erase → Chapter.
–  Take vehicle for a test drive.
–  Read control unit fault memory again.
